Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, it is time to get back to part 2 of our 4 part series of having a greener lawn. Part 1 focused on preparing your lawn for the spring season. In this part, we take a look at the next step to have a greener lawn. Scotts® Step 2 is application that we use after Memorial Day. At this point, you may notice that weeds are starting to grow within your grass. The main purpose of Step 2 is to eliminate weeds that are appearing in you newly planted grass. And, the application will strengthen and feed the freshly grown grass.

In order to get the best results of Step 2, we need to follow a specific set of steps that we at Dom itp recommend to our customers.

First, we mow the lawn and wait 3 days for the grass and weeds to grow a bit. Then, we sprinkle the lawn with water (unless we apply Step 2 very early in the morning when the grass and weeds are damp from overnight) and apply the Step 2 application. Once the fertilizer has been applied, we do not mow the lawn until the weeds absorb the fertilizer and they dry-up . After 3 days from applying Step 2, we are now ready to mow the lawn. If you have followed the direction, you should have no problem with weeds up to this point.

Not only does Scotts® Step 2 kill weeds, but it also containts the necessary phosphorus and potasium to feed and strenghten your grass. Step 2 is currently available at our Dom itp - Garden & Hardware Center.
